Considerable geothermal research expertise exists in New Zealand. The different perspectives of industry, consultants and academia have produced an innovative solution well suited to the needs of the global geothermal market. Leapfrog Geothermal is designed and developed in collaboration with the New Zealand geothermal community with Contact Energy, GNS Science and the University of Auckland being key contributors. This collaboration continues and Leapfrog Geothermal is constantly evolving as it breaks new ground in understanding this challenging geology.
Transferring & utilising geological knowledge to reservoir models
With Leapfrog Geothermal geological knowledge is easily transferred from geological to reservoir models – both TOUGH2 and FEFLOW. The results of the reservoir simulations can then be visualised using Leapfrog Geothermal’s exceptional 3D graphics.

Additional workflows support the modelling of hydrothermal alteration, temperature, pressures and feed zones. Working with recognised terminology and workflows means you can focus on understanding the geothermal system, rather than deciphering complex software. This intuitive design and workspace also reduces training time, so users quickly become skilled and productive.
