Features

Features of Leapfrog Mining include:

User-friendly visualisation

  • Maps, elevation grids and images easily imported, geo-referenced and integrated into models for rapid and effective visualisation of raw and processed data.
  • Build interlocking geological models with faults and folds to understand even the most complex geologies.
  • 3D measurement tools and a transparency function provide even better visualisation and understanding. Unique x-ray function helps to interpret the structure of high grade zones within the full data set, even within the densest areas of data.

One step database checking & control

  • Automatic error checking increases data reliability and allows error lists to be easily exported.
  • Detect errors in imported files by both data consistency checking and by visual reference to the 3D model.
  • Simplify and regroup lithological codes interactively for consistent coding for increased reliability.
  • Dynamic updating & refinement

    • Fix errors as they are detected, change the extends on a project.
    • Regrouping of lithological codes, changing chronological assumptions.
    • Add new drill-hole data and polylines to improve shape of the model in low data density areas.
    • Improved workflow

      • Leapfrog interfaces with a number of applications. Directly import drill-hole, numeric, polyline & wireframe data from a large variety of formats.
      • Work with CSV files, GIS data, ESRI shape files, Map Info, and Tab files.
      • Output can be in a variety of formats including DXF and various General Mining Packages wireframes.
      • Share your models

        • Slice through models at any orientation and show others what lies beneath.
        • Create high resolution model images for inclusion in reports and posters.
        • Create presentations and Leapfrog movies using the scene file storyboard and export to Windows Media Player format.
        • Freely and easily distribute Leapfrog viewer files for quick and easy communication.
        • Impressive high quality 3D models create clear and conclusive communication with stakeholders from various fields.

        Mining project application

Leapfrog can be used in every stage of the mining lifecycle, from initial exploration through to mine operations. It has a range of mining applications including:

  1. Property appraisals of advanced projects.
  2. Providing geological domains for resource modelling.
  3. Brownfield exploration.
  4. Generation of new near-mine exploration targets.
  5. Presentation & Communication.

Modelling techniques

Grade modelling

  • Leapfrog's first class grade modelling helps highlight structural controls, elements that are often missed when interpreting in section.
  • Leapfrog semi-automatically generates geological wireframes from drill-hole data within a matter of hours enabling geologists to test a variety of geological scenarios in rapid succession all from the raw data.
  • Apply user-defined (local) trend surfaces to the interpolation bending grade contours with the trend surface, this includes cross cutting trends.
  • Smooth nuggety data to reveal underlying trends.
  • Grade modelling can be performed rapidly and effectively for enhanced visualisation of trends. This can be used to produce a range of ore-waste cut-off automatically.
  • Leapfrog lets you define domains from any surface (faults, beds), either internally created or imported. In turn, a domain can be used to constrain grade models by only incorporating points that are inside the domain. This enables users to define the region of interest, particularly useful when working with large datasets.
  • Lithological modelling

  • Create a full interlocking 3D lithology model directly from drill hole codes.
  • Preserve the cross cutting relationship between the lithologies.
  • Leapfrog's agility and speed means that you can model complex lithologies within hours and days as opposed to weeks and months.
  • Group lithological codes with visual feedback to effectively model lithological units.
  • Vein modelling

Model complex veins, dykes and individual strata with ease directly from drill logs using Leapfrog's interval selection tools in combination with advanced 'vein' modelling workflow.

    Drillhole planning and targeting

Easily plan and target drillholes within the Leapfrog 3D environment.

    Structural data modelling

Construct surfaces representing fabrics from structural measurements or control surfaces using structural measurements.

    Digitisation

Leapfrog obviates manual digitisation.  However, if digitisation is required Leapfrog provides powerful 3D drawing tools (polylines and structural measurements) to digitise traces and field measurements as points, lines, Bezier curves or surfaces.

This can be produced directly from maps, photos or cross-sections.  These polylines and structural measurements can be used as input for fault or bedding surfaces, trend surfaces, and constraints.

Digitised points can also be merged with raw data to add further interpretation to the model.

    Tools & functions

Leapfrog's user friendly tools and functions ensure better all round visualisation and interpretation.

    • 3D measurement tools.
    • 3D drawing tools - draw structural measurements to control surface generation.
    • Transparency function - adjust one particular part of the model so you can see what lies behind it for better evaluation.
    • Layering.
    • Drape on topography.
    • X-ray function.
    • Interval selection tools.
