Event Name Lyceum Vancouver 2019 (Canada) - Workshop #3: Geochemical Data Modelling in ioGAS & Leapfrog Geo – Pim van Geffen & Seequent
Start Date 22nd Nov 2019 8:30am
End Date 22nd Nov 2019 4:30pm
Duration 8 hours

Working with geochemical data can be a daunting task, especially when large drill-hole databases contain multi-element assays from hundreds of holes, and we are asked to turn them into 3D models for imminent delivery. It requires us to work and think in two different spaces: three-dimensional geographic model space and multi-dimensional data space. It also requires us to use two or more software platforms to perform each task and generate models of derivative information such as lithogeochemical classification, alteration zones, or multivariate trace-element distributions in and around mineral systems. Fortunately, the developers of two leading-edge platforms have collaborated over the past decade to provide an intuitive solution to this problem. The live link between Seequent’s Leapfrog Geo and IMDEX’s ioGAS allows for instantaneous exploratory data analysis (EDA) of geochemical data and any related parameters, simultaneously, in 3D. This workshop will get you started with the general workflow and make you familiar with the live link’s special capabilities. It will quickly become clear that many hours a day can be saved by taking advantage of the interoperability of the two platforms. Rather than having to draw up a linear work plan of all sequential tasks to be performed over several days and achieve a single result, we can now try multiple ideas as fast as we can think of them and evaluate them immediately. Join us on November 22nd and discover how we can model geological processes quickly and easily from geochemical data, turning a previously daunting task into an enjoyable puzzle!

No previous experience with ioGAS is required, but basic familiarity with geochemical data is preferable.
